Binance has introduced Agent OS, a developer platform enabling AI agents to access market data, monitor accounts and execute cryptocurrency trades on the exchange under user-set permissions.
The platform supports AI tools including ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, allowing users to authorize agents to view account information and place trades within configured limits. Funds and trading activity can be isolated in dedicated subaccounts, with users retaining the ability to revoke access at any time.
Binance stated it can monitor trades executed through Agent OS but cannot access an agent’s external data sources, interpretation or decision-making processes, which occur within the user’s chosen AI application. The platform also integrates with Binance’s payment and onchain tools, enabling agents to facilitate transactions and interact with wallets and other decentralized services.
The move follows a broader industry trend. Coinbase launched Coinbase for Agents in June, allowing AI models such as ChatGPT and Claude to connect to user accounts and autonomously execute trades and strategies, including agent-driven payments via the x402 protocol.
Other exchanges have adopted varying approaches to AI-driven trading. Kraken introduced an AI-powered investing assistant in July that monitors markets and recommends trades based on user-defined financial goals and risk preferences, though it requires explicit user approval before execution.
Beyond trading, OKX launched a beta marketplace where AI agents can find work, transact autonomously and hire other agents using stablecoin payments and an onchain reputation system. Industry leaders including Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire have suggested AI agents could soon account for a significant portion of onchain activity, with Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao describing cryptocurrency as the "native currency" of AI agents.
