Bernhard Capital Partners acquires New Mexico Gas unit
Private equity firm Bernhard Capital Partners finalizes acquisition of New Mexico Gas Company from Emera for an undisclosed sum. Deal expands firm's energy infrastructure portfolio.

Bernhard Capital Partners has completed the acquisition of New Mexico Gas Company, a regulated natural gas utility serving parts of New Mexico.
The transaction, announced in March, was finalized with Emera, the former owner, for an undisclosed purchase price. New Mexico Gas operates as a regulated utility under state oversight, providing natural gas distribution services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
Bernhard Capital Partners, a private equity firm specializing in infrastructure investments, did not disclose financial terms of the deal. The acquisition adds to the firm’s portfolio of energy infrastructure assets, which includes investments in regulated utilities and midstream energy companies.
New Mexico Gas serves approximately 500,000 customers across 230 communities in the state. The utility’s operations remain subject to regulatory approvals and rate structures set by the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission.
Bernhard Capital Partners has not provided further details on integration plans or operational changes following the acquisition.
