Basilea Pharmaceutica reported first-half 2026 revenue of CHF 119 million, up 14% from CHF 104 million a year earlier, as sales of its antifungal Cresemba and antibiotic Zevtera drove growth. Operating profit rose 32% to CHF 31.6 million, while net profit surged 76.6% to CHF 27.9 million.
Revenue from Cresemba and Zevtera totaled CHF 92.3 million, including CHF 57.8 million in royalties and CHF 50 million in product sales. Non-dilutive funding from BARDA and CARB-X nearly doubled to CHF 26.7 million, while operating expenses increased to CHF 72 million. Cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash rose 32.6% to CHF 176 million at June 30, 2026, up from CHF 132.7 million a year earlier.
The Basel-based company raised its full-year 2026 guidance, now expecting revenue growth of about 15% versus a prior forecast of 10%. Operating profit is projected to expand roughly 40%, doubling the previous estimate of 20% growth. Cresemba and Zevtera-related revenue is now seen reaching approximately CHF 210 million, up from CHF 200 million previously guided.
Cresemba’s global in-market sales reached $782 million on a moving annual total basis through March 2026, a 27% increase year-over-year. Zevtera, launched in the U.S. in July 2025 via partner Innoviva Specialty Therapeutics, holds market exclusivity until April 2034. Royalty income is now projected at around CHF 125 million for 2026, compared with CHF 111.6 million in 2025 and CHF 65 million in 2022.
Basilea’s pipeline includes fosmanogepix, a Phase 3 antifungal asset with peak sales potential of about $1 billion and regulatory decisions expected around 2028–2029. Ceftibuten-ledaborbactam, targeting complicated urinary tract infections, is planned for Phase 3 initiation in mid-2027, with a potential launch around 2030. The company also initiated a Phase 1 study for BAL2420 in Q1 2026, with completion expected in mid-2027.
Basilea’s shares rose 8.3% to $58.70, near a 52-week high of $59.20, following the results. The company aims to commercialize four products by 2030, including Cresemba, Zevtera, fosmanogepix and ceftibuten-ledaborbactam. A Capital Markets Day is scheduled for October 28, 2026, in Zurich.
