Basilea Pharmaceutica lifts H1 2026 outlook as stock surges 8.7%

Basilea Pharmaceutica AG on Monday reported a 14% year-over-year increase in first-half revenue to CHF 119 million and lifted its full-year outlook, sending shares up 8.7% in pre-market trading.

The Basel-based biotech said total revenue rose from CHF 92.3 million in H1 2025, driven by higher royalty income and milestone payments. Operating profit increased 32% to CHF 31.6 million, while net profit reached CHF 27.9 million. The company’s net cash position doubled to CHF 105 million, with cash and equivalents totaling CHF 176 million at the end of June.

Basilea raised its full-year 2026 revenue growth target to approximately 15% from prior estimates, forecasting total revenue of about CHF 210 million. Royalty income is expected to reach CHF 125 million, milestone payments CHF 35 million, and product revenue CHF 50 million. Operating profit growth was lifted to roughly 40% year-over-year, up from an earlier 20% target, while R&D spending is projected to rise by about 20%.

The company’s commercial drugs, Cresemba and Zevtera, contributed CHF 57.8 million in royalty income in H1 2026, up 11% from the prior year. Cresemba’s 12-month sales to March 2026 reached $782 million, a 27% increase. Zevtera, launched in the U.S. by partner Innoviva Specialty Therapeutics, secured market exclusivity until April 2034.

Basilea also highlighted progress in its pipeline, with fosmanogepix and ceftibuten-ledaborbactam expected to reach peak combined sales of approximately $1.5 billion. Nearly 600 patients across 22 countries have been treated with fosmanogepix under a global expanded access program. The company plans to initiate a phase III study for ceftibuten-ledaborbactam by mid-2027, with fosmanogepix phase III readouts expected in 2028.

Chief Executive David Veitch said the company delivered “another strong operational and financial performance,” while noting that fosmanogepix and ceftibuten-ledaborbactam “could generate peak sales of approximately $1.5 billion, roughly doubling our current in-market sales level.” Chief Financial Officer Adesh Kaul said non-dilutive funding from BARDA and CARB-X agreements has exceeded $440 million, with $165 million awarded to date, including $61 million in H1 2026.

Basilea will host a Capital Markets Day in Zurich on October 28, 2026.
