Bank of America has announced a restructuring of its Asia Pacific industrials banking leadership, according to an internal memo reviewed on Wednesday. The changes aim to strengthen client coverage amid a rebound in global dealmaking activity.
Yuta Komori has been appointed chair of Asia Pacific Global Industrials Investment Banking (GIG), while retaining his role as co-head of Japan Investment Banking. Meng Gao, a senior member of the company’s China Investment Banking team since joining in 2015, has been named co-head of Asia Pacific GIG. Masashi Toda has also been appointed co-head of Asia Pacific GIG, continuing in his current roles as head of Japan Industrials and Natural Resources & Energy Transition Investment Banking, as well as Japan Investment Banking Strategy officer.
Peter Guenthardt, head of Asia Pacific GCIB, will oversee Komori, Gao, and Toda on a regional basis. Gao and Toda will also report to Loli Wu and Justin Anstee, the global co-heads of Global Industrials Investment Banking. The appointments follow Bank of America’s earlier hiring of nine senior bankers across the U.S. to expand its regional investment banking footprint and target middle-market companies.
A Bank of America spokesperson declined to comment on the leadership changes. The restructuring aligns with the bank’s ongoing adjustments to investment banking leadership across key markets and sectors to enhance client service and capitalize on improving dealmaking conditions.
