ARS Pharmaceuticals shares drop on Q2 2026 earnings report
Shares of ARS Pharmaceuticals declined after the company released its second-quarter 2026 earnings results, citing revenue shortfalls and revised guidance.

Shares of ARS Pharmaceuticals fell on Thursday after the company reported its second-quarter 2026 earnings, which fell short of analyst expectations and prompted a downward revision to full-year guidance.
The biopharmaceutical firm posted a net loss of $12.4 million for the quarter, compared with a loss of $8.9 million in the same period a year earlier. Revenue totaled $1.8 million, down from $2.3 million in Q2 2025. The company attributed the decline to lower-than-anticipated sales of its lead product, which remains in early commercialization stages.
ARS Pharmaceuticals also lowered its full-year revenue guidance to a range of $8 million to $10 million, from a prior estimate of $12 million to $15 million. The company cited slower-than-expected adoption of its primary drug and delays in regulatory clearances for additional indications as key factors behind the revision.
Chief Executive Officer Richard Schiffman stated that while the company is making progress in commercialization, the near-term financial impact has necessitated a more conservative outlook. "We are prioritizing long-term growth over short-term revenue targets," Schiffman said in a statement accompanying the earnings release.
Analysts had expected revenue of $2.1 million for the quarter and a full-year range of $11 million to $14 million, according to a Reuters poll. The stock, which had gained 5% in the prior session, fell 8% in after-hours trading following the report.
ARS Pharmaceuticals, which went public in 2023, focuses on developing treatments for rare diseases, with its lead candidate targeting a condition affecting fewer than 10,000 patients globally. The company has not yet achieved profitability and continues to rely on external financing for operations and R&D.
The earnings report follows a series of regulatory milestones, including a recent FDA approval for a secondary indication of its flagship drug. However, the company warned that broader market conditions and reimbursement challenges may further delay revenue recognition.
Investors will monitor upcoming clinical trial results and potential partnerships as catalysts for a rebound in sentiment, though near-term headwinds remain evident.
