Artificial intelligence developer Anthropic has arranged a pre-IPO credit facility targeting more than $10 billion, according to Bloomberg News. The facility reflects sustained demand for exposure to the AI sector, with the company positioning itself for what could become one of the largest public offerings in U.S. history.
The financing structure includes commitments from major banks, with primary arrangers asked to contribute approximately $1.25 billion each. Secondary lenders are expected to commit around $1 billion, while less active participants are anticipated to provide $750 million or less. The facility remains in the arrangement phase, with final terms subject to market conditions.
Anthropic, the creator of the Claude chatbot, has taken preliminary steps toward an IPO, filing confidentially with U.S. regulators in June. The company’s revenue trajectory has accelerated rapidly, with an annual run rate exceeding $65 billion by the end of July. Projections shared exclusively by Reuters indicate potential 2028 revenue of $190 billion to $200 billion, underscoring the scale of its commercial expansion.
The credit facility follows a broader trend of heightened financing activity in the AI industry, where venture capital and debt markets have increasingly favored high-growth, high-capacity startups. Anthropic’s ability to secure such substantial pre-IPO funding highlights investor confidence in its long-term monetization strategy, particularly as competition intensifies among leading AI developers.
