Alcon introduced a range of new products for cataract surgery at the Annual Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons in London on Tuesday.
The centerpiece of the presentation is the Clareon Panoptix Pro intraocular lens, which the company says utilizes 94% of incoming light, generating less glare than other trifocal lenses. Alcon called that the highest reported light-utilization figure for such lenses to date. The product is already available across Europe and most Asian markets.
Also on display is the Unity Cataract System, which Alcon says will accelerate operating-room workflows during cataract procedures. The company stated the system incorporates new ultrasound technology that operates roughly twice as fast as its predecessor.
Alcon also unveiled the Clareon Truplus lens for the European market, designed to improve mid-distance vision without compromising distance vision. A new imaging guidance technology called Unity GPS, intended for surgical planning, was shown alongside these products; it will initially be available in Japan and Italy.
