Lambda Inc., an artificial intelligence cloud-computing provider, is in advanced discussions to secure up to $3 billion in fresh capital at a proposed valuation of $12 billion or more, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The company, which operates in the emerging "neocloud" segment focused on renting AI infrastructure such as chips, is evaluating the funding round as a potential precursor to a public offering next year. Terms of the deal remain under negotiation and have not been finalized, the report noted.
Lambda’s existing backers include Nvidia Corp., which has invested in the company as part of its broader push to expand AI compute capacity. The fundraising would mark one of the largest venture rounds in the AI infrastructure space amid surging demand for high-performance computing resources.
The talks highlight the accelerating competition among neocloud providers to scale capacity and secure capital to meet rising enterprise and developer needs for AI workloads. While no definitive agreements have been reached, the scale of the potential round underscores investor appetite for companies positioned at the core of the AI infrastructure ecosystem.
