Transport Infrastructure Ireland has selected an AECOM-Jacobs joint venture to serve as program delivery partner for the MetroLink project, a major new metro rail system for the Irish capital.
AECOM, which reported $16.1 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2025, will work alongside Jacobs, an engineering firm with approximately $12 billion in annual revenue and a workforce of around 47,000. The two companies will provide program management, governance, and risk management services under an integrated delivery model supporting procurement and execution.
The MetroLink project is planned as a predominantly underground system featuring 16 stations stretching from Swords in North County Dublin through Dublin Airport to the city center. It is designed to integrate with existing Irish Rail and DART commuter lines, the Luas light rail network, and BusConnects services.
Richard Whitehead, AECOM chief executive for Europe and India, said the appointment reflects the company's track record delivering multi-billion-dollar programs and its intention to operate as part of an integrated team with TII and its partners.
Richard Sanderson, Jacobs executive vice president and general manager for Europe, noted the company brings experience managing transportation programs that require integrating multiple contracts and stakeholders.
Both firms already maintain active projects in Ireland. AECOM is involved in the Dublin Airport Capital Investment Plan and the BusConnects Cork program, while Jacobs is working on BusConnects Dublin and Cork and the proposed Luas Cork light rail scheme.
