Aclarion Inc. (NASDAQ: ACON, ACONW) has enrolled the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix in its ongoing CLARITY trial, expanding the 300-patient prospective, randomized, multi-center study evaluating the Nociscan system for surgical treatment of discogenic low back pain.
The Phoenix-based neurosurgery and orthopedic spine program, led by Nicholas Theodore, MD, will serve as a clinical site for the trial. Theodore, Chairman of Neurosurgery at the institution and Principal Investigator for the CLARITY study, will oversee patient enrollment and data collection.
Nociscan uses magnetic resonance spectroscopy combined with augmented intelligence algorithms to quantify chemical biomarkers associated with disc pain, processing MRI data via cloud connection to identify pain sources. The trial's primary endpoint measures changes in back pain at 12 months compared to baseline.
Nine other centers are actively enrolling patients, including Johns Hopkins University, Northwestern Medicine, Advocate Aurora Research Institute, and Texas Back Institute. The study remains on track for an early interim data readout in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Aclarion, based in Broomfield, Colorado, has not disclosed additional trial sites or updated enrollment figures beyond the expansion to the University of Arizona.
