80 Mile PLC said its Italian biodiesel plant, operated by subsidiary Greenswitch S.r.l., has received dual sustainability certifications that qualify its products for double-counting treatment under Italian and EU renewable fuel regulations.
The Ferrandina facility in Basilicata, southern Italy, secured the Italian National Sustainability Certification Scheme (INS) and International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), the company said on Monday. The accreditations verify compliance with sustainability, traceability and greenhouse gas emissions-saving criteria required under Italian and European Union renewable fuels mandates.
Mark Frascogna, Managing Director of Hydrogen Valley—the 80 Mile unit that owns Greenswitch—stated the certifications enable the plant to participate in the Certificati di Immissione in Consumo regime administered by Italy’s GSE. Products meeting the standards typically command a price premium of €300 to €500 per tonne, depending on feedstock quality and certificate pricing.
The facility is completing final maintenance ahead of planned commercial production of biodiesel and other renewable fuel products. 80 Mile, listed on London’s AIM, Frankfurt’s FSE and the U.S. OTC market, operates renewable energy projects across Italy, Finland and Greenland.
