Sempra Infrastructure Signs 20-Year LNG Supply Deal With Petrobras

Sempra Infrastructure has entered into a 20-year agreement to supply approximately 0.8 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas to Brazilian state-controlled energy giant Petrobras.

The LNG will be sourced from Sempra Infrastructure's contracted liquefaction capacity at the Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 project, currently under construction in Jefferson County, Texas. The deal marks the first time a South American company has joined Sempra Infrastructure's LNG customer portfolio, according to Justin Bird, chief executive of Sempra Infrastructure.

Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 reached a positive final investment decision in September 2025. The expansion will add two liquefaction trains capable of producing roughly 13 million tonnes per annum of LNG, doubling the facility's total output to approximately 26 million tonnes per annum when combined with Phase 1. Phase 2 is expected to reach commercial operations in 2030 and 2031 for its two trains.

Phase 1 of the Port Arthur LNG project, also under construction, is on track for commercial operations at or near the end of 2027 and in 2028 for its first two trains. Together, the two phases will bring the full facility online within a four-year window from late 2027 to early 2031.

The Port Arthur LNG development is a cornerstone of Sempra Infrastructure's dual-coast strategy, which aims to route U.S. natural gas exports to customers in both Atlantic and Pacific Basin markets. Sempra Infrastructure is headquartered in Houston and operates as a subsidiary of Sempra, traded on the NYSE under the ticker SRE. Petrobras ADRs trade under the ticker PBR.
