Nestlé said on Wednesday that it will expand its pet-food production capacity in Thailand, citing higher demand for high-quality pet food. The company plans to invest about 157 million francs, with the spending focused mainly on its existing plant in Rayong. Production is intended for both domestic and international markets.
The expansion covers products sold under the Purina brand, including Felix, Friskies, Pro Plan and Purina One. Pet food accounts for about 21% of Nestlé's group revenue, according to the statement.
The move is Nestlé's second major pet-food production announcement in recent weeks. The company has also planned 520 million francs for a pet-food plant in Italy and opened a new Purina plant in the United States at the end of August. The Thailand investment follows a mid-July announcement of 563 million francs to expand a Nescafé production site in the country, with operations expected to begin at the end of 2028.
