Leaders from major AI firms are set to meet in Scotland this week at a gathering hosted by Britain’s King Charles III. The event, overseen by the Ditchley Foundation, will take place at Dumfries House and includes invitations to executives from Nvidia, OpenAI, Anthropic, IonQ and Google DeepMind.
The meeting follows a week in which the chief executives of Anthropic, OpenAI and SpaceXAI urged greater restraint in the development of frontier AI systems. In an open letter, Anthropic’s Dario Amodei warned that AI capabilities have been advancing drastically faster since the summer, driven by recursive self‑improvement, and suggested that a swarm of AI agents could potentially take over the entire internet within six to twelve months.
OpenAI’s Sam Altman echoed the concern, stating that the industry needs to pace the advancement of frontier AI. Sources close to the monarch said King Charles has taken a personal interest in AI development and its associated risks, prompting his involvement in the summit.
