Roche subsidiary Chugai Pharmaceutical has obtained regulatory approval in Japan for its FoundationOne CDx cancer test as companion diagnostics for the drug Tovorafenib, the company announced Wednesday.
The approval covers determination of which patients with a specific form of brain tumor may be candidates for Tovorafenib treatment, according to Chugai.
With the new authorization, Chugai said it is expanding the scope of FoundationOne CDx to cover a total of nine cancer types. The test analyzes tumor tissue to detect specific genetic alterations, helping clinicians select appropriate therapies.
Chugai stated the move reinforces its position in the personalized cancer treatment space. The company is headquartered near Tokyo.
FoundationOne CDx is part of Roche's broader precision oncology portfolio, enabling identification of molecular biomarkers that guide targeted treatment decisions across multiple indications.
