Brown & Brown names Erik Templin head of North America employee benefits unit

Brown & Brown Inc. announced the appointment of Erik Templin as executive managing director of employee benefits for North America, a role within the firm’s Retail segment. Templin will report to Steve Hearn, president of Brown & Brown Retail, and will be responsible for strategy, growth, talent, operations, innovation and customer experience across the region.

Templin joins the company in 2018 following an acquisition and brings more than 25 years of experience in employee benefits, health‑information services, pharmaceuticals and third‑party administration. His previous positions at Brown & Brown include regional vice president, regional managing director and senior managing director, where he helped expand the employee benefits platform and drive organic growth.

Steve Hearn praised Templin as a “strong operator and proven strategic leader” with deep knowledge of the business and its customers. Templin said he is honored to lead the next phase of growth for the employee benefits business and looks forward to accelerating growth and investing in talent.

Brown & Brown, an insurance brokerage with a global footprint, operates more than 700 locations and employs roughly 23,000 professionals. The firm has been in operation since 1939 and is headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida.
