Avolta pilots stablecoin payments at Zurich Airport

Avolta, a Swiss travel retail operator, is conducting a pilot program at Zurich Airport’s duty-free shop ‘Level 2’ to test direct stablecoin payments. Customers will use a QR code to settle purchases via their digital wallets, bypassing traditional card networks and intermediaries. The trial runs from 9 to 25 September, according to a statement from Avolta. The initiative aims to explore the feasibility of seamless, cashless transactions in a high-traffic retail environment at the airport’s international terminal.
